A woman in her 40's confides in her unseen husband about her Alzheimer's diagnosis. It's not until she stands to leave that we discover the truth of who she really is.
Beth (Ali Bastian) is ‘Full of life’ and enjoying the winter sun in her garden speaking to her unseen husband. Beth is bubbly, exuberant but has an air of heaviness on her soul. She has news to bare and she needs to unburden herself to be able to walk freely forward. Her fear of disappointing is matched by her fear of the unknown… or in Beth’s case, the fear of the previously known that Alzheimers is now robbing her of. As she explains that she is selling the family home and moving into an assisted living abode we realise that the unseen husband is dead but Beth still wants to confide in him. Our perceptions about age and how a dementia sufferer sees themselves is then challenged with a final ‘reveal’.
