When Arya’s car breaks down, the a 20-something year old disillusioned grad student is forced to stay with her estranged family and nanny her 5 year-old brother for repair funds.
Arya is a 20-year-old broke yet cynical college student is in the middle of her term paper titled The Inevitability of Disappointment. Wanting a break from the pressure, she decides to drive up I-5 from LA and surprise visit her boyfriend. But when she arrives, he instead greets her with a break up. Heartbroken, Arya attempts to run back to LA, but her car breaks down in Stockton, California, her hometown. Stranded, she’s forced to stay with her family, who she’s been avoiding for years, due to her father’s affair. This makes for an incredibly awkward reunion, especially with JAYDEN, her angsty 16 year old brother with a chip on his shoulder, and KODA, a shy but precocious 5 year old kid who doesn’t even really remember Arya. Determined to get her car repaired and get the hell out of dodge as soon as possible, she strikes up a deal with her mom – to babysit Koda for repair funds.. At first, her brothers seem like too much to handle but as she is forced to care for them, she sees that these two siblings are but little mirrors of herself. As an unexpected bond between them grows, her armor of cynicism and anger is challenged and she'll forced to actually heal the wounds that have kept her away for so long.
